The White-tailed deer were moving around in February probably because we had so many warm days. For some reason I captured quite a few photos of deer looking right into the camera. One one shot of a buck and this corresponds to what I’ve seen around the house. Lots of doe’s but no bucks.

The Wild Turkeys were moving around as well. I had a flock of 30 plus that I would see around the house. However this past week they seemed to have dissapeared. It might be because it is mating season.

A few squirrels were out running around.

After driving around Hiawatha National Forest we decided to drive over to Miners Beach and hike the Lakeshore Trail to Mosquito Beach. We had tried hiking this trail once before but discovered that the Stable Flies were out in force. They didn’t bite but we were covered with them so we turned back. This time there were no flies just a friendly squirrel.

It was a beautiful day for a walk along the lakeshore. We encountered these reflections on a small stream along the trail.

The fall colors were generally green although on a few of the viewpoints we could see some nice color.

After photographing the beach we drove over to the Lost Creek Falls for a short hike into the falls. As we walked along the trail this squirrel posed for us.

We were the only ones on the trail and the first ones to make the hike since the recent snow fall. When I first started hiking into Lost Creek Falls there was no marked trail. Now there are signs along the road pointing to the trail head and someone had done a wonderful job of putting in boardwalks on sections of the trail. No more walking in mud to get to the falls. I’ve noticed that communities have take not of how important waterfalls are and have made every effort to make waterfalling an enjoyable experience.
