We made a stop at Gile Flowage. There was some nice light and the trees were near peak color.

After leaving the Presque Isle River we stopped at Root Beer Falls for a brief visit. With the recent rains there was quite a bit of water flowing.

With a lot of water in the river there were not many close-up shots available. I concentrated on trying to get some water pattern shots. The brown color of the water is the result of tannic acid in the water.

This is first chance I’ve had to look at my trail cam since deer hunting season. I’ve seen at least three of the bucks that were around prior to deer hunting. There are also quite a few doe’s around.

Since mid fall I’ve had quite a few Wild Turkeys around. When we first saw them there 20 turkeys in the flock. The last couple of weeks we have counted 35 in the flock. Several times a week they show up at the house around 9:30am then walk around the house before heading for the neighbors cornfield.

This is the first fox that I’ve seen in quite a while.

We walked along the boardwalk to Manabezho Falls . There was a lot of water going over the falls.

When we arrived at the Presque Isle River parking area there were quite a few people looking at the fall leaves. There were enough people walking across the bridge at the mouth of the River that it took a while to get any shots. The river was a little high to get the iconic shots of the rocks below the bridge.

There was some nice color at the mouth of the river.

While the fall colors in the interior were nearly at their peal the colors along the shore were a couple of weeks away.

When visiting the Black River Harbor I frequently encounter foam patterns on the water. On this visit there was a lot of foam on the water and many patterns to photograph.

After visiting Copper Peak we normally continue on down to the mouth of the Black River. There are many things to photograph in the area.

One of my favorite places to visit the last week in September is Copper Peak. The colors in the interior are usually at their peak and there are some outstanding views from the top of the Copper Peak ski jump. With any luck they will be ski jumping again at Copper Peak withing the next couple of years.

We met a friend for breakfast before parting. We headed over to the Presque Isle River on Highway 519. This was the last week in September and the colors in the interior were almost at their peak. Even though it was raining the it was a beautiful drive.
