My wife and I drove out to Hoffman Hills for some hiking. The spring colors were near peak as we hiked the trail to the tower. When we reached the tower we noticed three large birds perched on the top. We couldn’t figure out if they were eagles or Turkey Vultures. As soon as they took off we realized they were vultures. We watched them soaring above the trees as we took in the beautiful colors.

This is one of my favorite locations to photograph the spring colors. It was a bit early to get any green but the maples were starting to flower creating some beautiful reds. I find photographing the spring colors almost as much fun as photographing the leaves turning in the fall. These were taken from the top of the tower at Hoffman Hills Recreation Area.

On a recent visit to Hoffman Hills Recreation Area I had a chance to photograph three different birds for the first time at Hoffman Hills.
