Fall in the Blue Hills.

We made several fall trips to the Blue Hills East of Rice Lake, Wisconsin. One of my favorite locations is Audie Lake.

When fall leaf peeping season starts my wife usually brings up her memories of her trips along the Narrow Gauge Road. In those days it was a narrow road with overhanging foliage. We had looked for a few time but she couldn’t remember where exactly it was.

This year I happened to be looking at the Wisconsin Rustic Roads map and discovered that it is now called Rustic Road 83 Ironically it is not too far from where she grew up and nowhere near where we were looking for it.

I was a little disappointed because it is no longer a narrow road. In most places it no longer has overhanging foliage. In addition, a high voltage transmission line has been put in next to the road. I probably wouldn’t classify it as a rustic road anymore. However, it was a relaxing drive.

A few shots from our morning covid walk.

Since we were locked down at home this fall we spent more time looking at fall colors near our home. These were taken on a fall drive in Lucas Township.

A couple of shots of my backyard during the fall color season.

As I’ve mentioned several times with the Covid problem we are spending more time around home. We typically do a two mile walk in the morning. The fall colors are really starting to near their peak right now.

After finishing at Bond Falls we drove back over to Hurley were we were staying for the night. I was hoping for a nice sunset or sunrise but it remained cloudy. Still the fall colors around the flowage were at their peak.

We headed north on the first fall color trip of the season. We ended up in Land O’ Lakes, Wisconsin. We decided to take Vilas County Highway B over to Presque Isle. Even though it was an overcast day the fall colors were outstanding.
