I’m still photographing a few backlit leaves.

There are still a few Downy Yellow Violets around.

We have a few Persian Onions blooming. I planted them last fall.

One of my favorite photography subjects in the spring is backlit leaves. The back lighting gives the leaves a translucent appearance.

A walk through the wetlands area turned up quite a few things to photograph. One of my favorite subjects in the spring is backlit leaves.

There were a variety of birds in and around the ponds. This year the Canada Geese only had three goslings.

Spring is a great time to photograph backlit leaves. Early in the year the leaves have a appear translucent making for some great photos.

My wife and I took a walk along the Red Cedar Trail. There were a variety of flowers out. Spring Beauty seemed to be the most prominent. There were still a few Marsh Marigolds around. I managed a few shots of backlit leaves. It seems the wind has been blowing all spring and this day was no exception so all of the shots were hand held.

A walk through Hoffman Hills Recreation Area gave me an opportunity to photograph some spring, blooms, buds and leaves. For most of the shots taken in the wetlands area I used my 500mm lens. This allowed me to get some close-ups while avoiding walking in the wetlands.

After photographing in the wetlands we hike up to the Tower at Hoffman Hills. I took a few shots of some backlit spring leaves, with my 300mm lens, on the way to the tower.

I just ran across some photos I had taken late in the spring at Hoffman Hills Recreation Area. I’m a little behind on some of my photo processing.

Backlit leaves are one of my favorite subjects in the spring and Hoffman Hills is one of my favorite places to photograph them. Unfortunately the bad weather prevented me from getting out much. When I did make it to Hoffman Hills I found that the DNR had done a controlled burn in the prairie area and most of the Popular trees were in bad shape. I did find a few in the wetlands to photograph.

With the controlled burn many of the early flowers were abundant although it was a little messy to photograph them because every time I kneeled down I was covered with black from the fire. It was a little difficult photographing because of strong winds in the prairie.
